Regulation Set M-C
Regulation Set M-C is the third official ruleset confirmed for Pokémon Champions VGC. Mega Evolutions remain fully legal under strict competitive guidelines. Running from September 9 to December 2, 2026, Regulation Set M-C serves as the standard competitive format for in-game Ranked Battles Season 3 and major Play! Pokémon Premier events, including the prestigious 2027 Latin America International Championships (LAIC) in São Paulo.
This regulations expansion introduces 36 new Pokémon into the competitive pool — including regional forms, gender variants, and the Galar starters — alongside six new Mega Evolutions: Mega Absol Z, Mega Garchomp Z, Mega Lucario Z, Mega Salamence, Mega Golisopod, and Mega Baxcalibur.

Mega Absol Z (Absolite Z)
Dark / Fairy · Sharpness
Mega Absol Z runs Sharpness, boosting slicing moves by 50%. Night Slash, Psycho Cut, and similar cuts become primary STAB and coverage tools, letting it threaten bulky targets that previously shrugged off unboosted Dark attacks. Sucker Punch remains available for priority while the Mega Speed tier keeps it relevant in speed control wars.
Mega Garchomp Z (Garchompite Z)
Dragon / Ground · Levitate
Mega Garchomp Z gains Levitate, granting full immunity to Ground-type attacks and several grounded hazards. That lets it ignore Earthquake spread from both allies and opponents, sit safely next to Ground spam, and continue threatening teams with Dragon- and Ground-type offense without taking chip from its own team's EQ.
Mega Lucario Z (Lucarionite Z)
Fighting / Steel · Aura Guard
Aura Guard halves damage from contact moves, giving Mega Lucario Z unexpected bulk against Close Combat, Knock Off, Liquidation, and other melee tools. Combined with Fighting/Steel STAB and a high special attacking profile, it can take a hit from physical attackers and answer with Aura Sphere, Flash Cannon, or Vacuum Wave.
Mega Salamence (Salamencite)
Dragon / Flying · Aerilate
Salamencite converts Normal-type moves into Flying-type and boosts their power by 20%. Paired with Intimidate on base form before mega evolving, Mega Salamence offers stellar defensive positioning followed by high-output Aerilate Hyper Voice or Double-Edge pressure.
Mega Golisopod (Golisopite)
Bug / Water · Tough Claws
Replacing Emergency Exit with Tough Claws boosts all contact moves by 30%. First Impression becomes a terrifying 117-BP priority STAB attack on turn one, while Liquidation and Aqua Jet provide sustained contact damage in Rain or Trick Room.
Mega Baxcalibur (Baxcalibrite)
Dragon / Ice · Thermal Exchange
Mega Baxcalibur keeps Thermal Exchange, converting Fire-type hits into Attack boosts instead of burns. That fire immunity and boosting pattern, plus extra Mega Attack and bulk, make Glaive Rush and Icicle Crash devastating against Dragon, Flying, and Ground cores.

Mandatory competitive restrictions enforced for all Regulation M-C matches
1Double Battle Format (4v4)
All matches are played in the standard VGC 4v4 Double Battle format. Trainers register a Team List of 6 legal Pokémon and select 4 to bring into each battle.
2Level Flat 50 Regulation
All legal Pokémon above or below Level 50 are automatically adjusted to Level 50 for the duration of the match. Stats are recalculated dynamically.
3Species Clause
A player’s team cannot contain two Pokémon with the same National Pokédex number. Regional variants count as the same Pokedex species.
4Item Clause (166 Legal Items)
No two Pokémon on a team may hold the exact same item. Players may select from 166 authorized held items, including specialized Mega Stones, terrain seeds, and Berry variants.
5Timer Guidelines
Your Time: 7 minutes per player | Turn Time: 45 seconds | Team Preview: 90 seconds | Total Game Time: 20 minutes.
